The Public Response to Brian Laundrie & the Laundrie family.
--
I have been following the Gabbie Petito and Brian Laundrie case since early September.
I will admit I saw a tiktok, while Gabbie was still missing, and tuned in for the ride.
This case started living in my head rent free. I knew from the beginning that it wasn’t going to end well.
True crime unfolding right in front of our eyes.
Don’t get me wrong I turned into #HEYJB #HEYNEWSNATION on the daily for the lives streams. The live streams happened right after I was finished teaching in the morning and were the perfect entertainment for lunch.
What I wasn’t prepared for was the lunacy of the general public surrounding this case.
What I found most shocking was the general disbelief in the evidence put forth. (this disbelief is continued even after remains for Brian Laundrie have been found).
Today, November 7th, I saw Dog the Bounty Hunter saying that there is only a 50–50 chance those are Brians remains. This is the reason the public is going crazy.
People with influence and power are spreading lies.
The complete disregard for the law is astounding.
The public demanding that officers break the law and wire and bug and do all sorts of things to the parents in which they had no legal wrong doing. The sense of what is legal and right, all gone. The public demand for different treatment because someone appeared to be guilty is CRAZY!
I couldn’t even wrap my head around what I say happening — from protesting, to the rampant spreading of miss information, to band wagon channels coming on live to say stuff that just wasn’t true.
I saw the public become the paparazzi. The expectations of the public that had no relation to anyone in any of the families.
It really makes you question what we have become on the world. The kind of things people feel that they are entitled to. We have allowed this type of behaviour and therefore have mad people feel like the deserve answers.
I don’t know how many times I hear JB from WFLA Now remind people to stay routed in reality. He needed to remind people that we as the public are not entitled to specidifc information held by the FBI. That we the public are not watching a Netflix drama and things take time.
There are just a lot of people that are living in the world that I don’t understand but that is very real for the majority of people.
What do you think? Should the public be allowed to protest and harasses people? Should we be allowed to post blatant lies?
Where do we draw the line?
